Llorente leads Warriors on first day of 2025

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Junior first baseman A.J. Llorente (Williamsport, Pa./Montoursville Area) led the Lycoming College baseball team with three hits in his first day with the team and junior third baseman Brody Lindsey (Monrovia, Md./DeMatha Catholic) added two hits and two RBI, as Lycoming fell in a pair of games to Greensboro College, 11-1 and 13-4, at Truist Point Park on Friday, Feb. 14.
 
Lindsey and Llorente led the Warriors (0-2 overall) in the nightcap, with Lindsey going 2-for-4 with a double, a run and two RBI and Llorente going 2-for-4 with a run.
 
Greensboro (2-0 overall) had two four-run innings and scored nine runs before Lycoming scored two in the seventh.
 
Sophomore shortstop Sean Perkins (Berlin, N.J./Eastern Regional) walked to lead off before Lindsey delivered an RBI double to center field. He moved to third on a single by Llorente and scored on a wild pitch.
 
After the Pride scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh, the Warriors added two more in the eighth. Junior center fielder Nick Reeder (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) led off with an infield single, stole second and took third on a passed ball. Senior left fielder Danny DeLucas (Whittier, Calif./LaSerna) walked. After a strikeout, Lindsey reached on another infield single to drive in Reeder and Llorente scored DeLucas with a single to left.
 
Junior right fielder Josh Bottger (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Wilkes-Barre Area) also had a hit in the game.
 
Dominic Scavone went 3-for-4 with four RBI, Louis Berini went 3-for-6 with two runs and a triple and Michael Schroer went 3-for-5 with two doubles for the Pride.
 
Michael Richards (1-0) allowed one hit in six innings to earn the win. He walked one and struck out four. Junior Jake Wilber (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) (0-1) allowed eight hits, two walks and four runs in three innings. He struck out one.
 
In the first game, Greensboro used a five-run second inning en route to the 11-1 win, as Lycoming notched five hits in the game.
 
Lycoming got its lone run in the seventh inning. Senior designated hitter Jack Schilling (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) was hit by a pitch to lead off. After a strikeout, three straight walks forced him in, with DeLucas driving in the run.
 
Evan Skye led the Pride, going 4-for-5 with a double, a triple, two runs and two RBI. Chris Le went 2-for-4 with two runs, Mike Rinaldi went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI and Alex Vazquez had two hits and three RBI.
 
Llorente, junior pinch-hitter Julian Stellar (Kulpmont, Pa./Mount Carmel Area), first-year left fielder Jimmy Coppock (Collingdale, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara), sophomore right fielder Eric MacCluen (Downingtown, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) and first-year second baseman Kaden Shay (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport Area) had hits for the Warriors.
 
Ian Bast (1-0) earned the win with five shutout innings, allowing two hits and three walks. He struck out eight. Junior Landon Evans (Millville, Pa./Millville) allowed five runs and six hits in two innings. He struck out two.
 
The Warriors will look to complete the three-game set with Greensboro, weather depending, on Sunday, Feb. 16, at 1 p.m., at Truist Point Park.
