Pardoe leads Warriors at Drew

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Sophomore Hayden Pardoe (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) led a group of four Lycoming College men's basketball players in double figures with 18 points, as Lycoming fell to Landmark Conference-leading Drew University, 93-62, on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Baldwin Gym.

Pardoe finished 6-of-8 from the field and 4-of-5 from downtown. Senior Ivan Komitski (Sofia, Bulgaria/Lee Academy) added 11 points, five rebounds and two assists and sophomore Connor Shanahan (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) added 11 points and two assists for the Warriors (2-17 overall, 1-11 Landmark). Junior Isaiah Valentine (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) also 11 nine points, eight rebounds and four assists.

After Drew led 8-5 through the game's first three minutes, the Warriors scored the next seven points, leading 12-8 after back-to-back layups from Valentine. The team's fought through four more ties and a lead change in the period before Shanahan tied the game at 30 with a 3-pointer with 4:34 left. Lycoming was still within two points with 77 seconds left in the half after a layup from Pardoe, but Drew scored the last nine points of the period to lead, 45-34, at the break.

Lycoming closed with 10 with 15:48 left in the second half after a fastbreak dunk from Purdoe, but a pair of 3-pointers from Drew put the Lycoming deficit back in double digits, where it stayed the rest of the game.

Malcolm Newman led Drew with 21 points and three steals and Matthew Zenker added 17 points. Peso Crump posted nine points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.

The Warriors get back on the court on Wednesday, Feb. 5, when they head to Juniata College for a 7 p.m., Landmark Conference game.
