WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Sophomore Jocelyn McCracken (Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore Area) scored 14 points and two others chipped in double-digit points as the Lycoming Warriors fought off a fourth-quarter rally against Misericordia University in a 60-52 victory at Lamade Gymnasium on Wednesday evening, Dec. 17.
Lycoming (5-5, 1-3) shot 53.7 percent from the field for the game, shooting 22-for-41 against Misericordia (3-6), who nearly erased a 16-point lead by scoring almost half their total points in the fourth quarter alone.
A three-pointer from senior Kami Abdo (Pottsville, Pa. / Nativity BVM) put the Warriors ahead 46-30 with 7:55 to play, but a 15-4 run from Misericordia closed the gap to five before Abdo drilled another big three with 3:09 to play. A 7-0 spurt, though, brought the Cougars to within one, 53-52, at the 1:50 mark, but the Warriors scored the final seven points, highlighted by a clutch three-pointer from senior Allison Fisher (Pinehurst, N.C. / Burrell) to polish off the eight-point win.
The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair, with the Cougars taking a pair of three-point leads, but the Warriors scored the final four points of the period, with senior Victoria Burton (Marietta, Pa. / Donegal) hitting a runner just before the buzzer that gave Lycoming a 12-9 lead.
In the ensuing period, the Warriors put the clamps down defensively in the midst of a 13-2 run that lasted nearly nine minutes and stretched the Lycoming lead to 13 points. Misericordia then scored the final four points of the half, but the Warriors carried a 25-16 advantage into the break, holding the Cougars to just 23.3 percent shooting.
In the third quarter, Misericordia closed the gap to three points on two occasions, but a 7-0 run highlighted by an Ann-Marie McMurtrie (Centre Hall, Pa. / Penns Valley) 3-pointer pushed the lead back to double digits. An old-fashioned three-point play from senior Alyssa Reininger (Kulpmont, Pa. / Mount Carmel Area) closed the quarter, giving Lycoming a 41-28 edge going into the final ten minutes.
McCracken cracked double figures for the fourth time this season, posting a game-high 14 points on 7-for-10 shooting with seven rebounds and three assists. Abdo added 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting, sinking both of her three-point tries. Reisinger tallied 10 points, six of them from the free throw line, while Fisher scored nine points to go with five rebounds.
Misericordia was led by Emily Romanowski with 13 points and four steals, while Morgan Janeski added 10 points and Chase Purdy tallied 10 rebounds and nine assists.
The Warriors will break for the holidays and the new year before returning to action on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026 with a non-conference road matchup at King's College. Tipoff from Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Is scheduled for 1 p.m.
