ELMIRA, N.Y. — Led by a career-high 15 points from sophomore Jocelyn McCracken (Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore Area) and a double-double from senior Allison Fisher (Pinehurst, N.C. / Burrell), the Lycoming College women's basketball team shook off the cobwebs after final exams and used a big second quarter to pull ahead of Elmira in a 72-55 non-conference victory on Saturday, Dec. 13 at Spiedel Gymnasium.

Lycoming (4-5) hit double-digit three-pointers for the first time since February 11, 2023 and forced 20 Elmira (4-4) turnovers, shooting 45.5 percent (28-for-62) from the field and a robust 43.5 percent (10-for-23) mark from behind the three-point line.

The Warriors fell behind 14-6 after the opening quarter, as the Soaring Eagles scored the first eight points while Lycoming was 3-for-16 from the field. After an Elmira three-pointer to start the second quarter gave it an 11-point lead, though, Lycoming flipped the switch with a 24-point period, shooting 50 percent in the quarter. Fisher drained her third three of the quarter in the final 30 seconds of the half to give the Warriors their first lead, a 30-27 advantage at halftime.

After the break, the Warriors stretched the lead to seven points before Elmira fought back with a 10-2 run that gave the Eagles a 37-36 lead at the 4:49 mark. Lycoming took the lead back when junior Alyssa Reisinger (Kulpmont, Pa. / Mount Carmel Area) scored four straight points to start a 7-0 spurt. Junior Ann-Marie McMurtrie beat the buzzer with a three-pointer to end the quarter, putting the Warriors up 48-42 going into the final period.

Lycoming proceeded to blow the game open with hot shooting in the fourth quarter, going 9-for-13 (69.2 percent) from the field and 4-for-6 from 3-point range over the final 10 minutes. Elmira closed to within four in the first 30 seconds of the period, but the Warriors used a 12-4 run to stretch the lead to 12 points at the midway portion of the quarter, later stretching the lead to 17 points on two occasions, including the final score of 72-55.

McCracken tallied her career-best 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting, while Fisher's second career double-double featured 14 points, a career-high 11 rebounds, and a team-high six assists, while going 4-for-8 from three-point range. Two other Warriors cracked double figures, with senior Kami Abdo (Bethlehem, Pa. / Nativity BVM) and McMurtrie each scoring 11 points. Abdo was 3-for-5 from behind the arc, while McMurtrie added five rebounds, four assists, and three steals. 

Elmira was led by Haley Mosch with 14 points and Amarionah Dixon with 11 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

The Warriors will play their final game before the holiday break on Wednesday, Dec. 17, returning home for a non-conference matchup with Misericordia. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. from Lamade Gymnasium.
