FREDERICK, Md.—The Lycoming College swimming teams won three races in a tri-match against Hood University and Misericordia University on Saturday, Nov. 1 at the Huntsinger Aquatics Center.
All three wins came on the men's side, highlighted by sophomore Sean Martinez (Willow Grove, Pa. / Upper Moreland) winning a hotly-contested 200-yard freestyle, hitting the wall at 1:53.54, barely edging two swimmers who both finished just .11 seconds back.
The other two victories came from first year Dominic De Mar (Phoenix, Ariz. / Horizon), who won the 1000-yard freestyle in 11:38.16, and junior Drew Degnan (Elmira, N.Y. / Elmira), who took the 200-yard butterfly in 2:16.01, winning by nearly seven seconds.
First year Jason Ricci (Cherry Hill, N.J. / Cherry Hill) finished second in the 100-yard backstroke and Martinez added a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle to his day.
On the women's side, senior Megan Lonergan (York, Pa. / York Suburban) had the two top finishes for the Warriors, finishing third in the 500-yard freestyle and also taking third in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing just .15 seconds out of second place.Â
First year Riley Pool (Canal Winchester, Ohio / Pickerington) took fifth in the 100-yard backstroke, while the Warriors took fourth in the women's 200-yard medley.
The Warriors will participate in their first home meet of the season next weekend, facing Marywood University on Saturday, Nov. 8 at noon at the Lamade Gym Natatorium.
