Warriors pull ahead late to beat Moravian

BETHLEHEM, Pa.—Senior Tayah Bauer (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) scored with just over ten minutes left to break a tie and lift the Lycoming College field hockey team to a 2-1 Landmark Conference victory over Moravian University on Saturday, Oct. 11 at John Makuvek Field.

Lycoming (7-4, 1-2) defeated Moravian (5-8, 1-3) for the first time ever, earning their first Landmark Conference victory of the season in the finale of a four-game road trip.

After a scoreless first quarter, the majority of the second also passed with zeroes on the board until sophomore Jordyn Keffer (East Berlin, Pa. / Bermudian Springs) found the back of the cage just under five minutes before halftime, giving the Warriors a 1-0 victory at the break on her first career goal.

Shortly after halftime, though, the Greyhounds answered back, with Gia Ambrosino scoring barely a minute into the third quarter off a pass from Samantha Culver.

The score remained 1-1 into the fourth, when Bauer finally broke the deadlock by taking the pass from senior Halie Woodring (Hummelstown, Pa. / Lower Dauphin) and scoring in the 50th minute, Bauer's team-leading sixth goal of the season.

The Warriors and senior goalie Isabella Bobé (York Springs, Pa. / Bermudian Springs) were able to hold the line the rest of the way, as Bobé stopped eight shots in cage in the 2-1 victory.

Lycoming will return home on Monday, Oct. 13 for a Landmark Conference contest against the Catholic University of America. The game will begin at 4 p.m. from UPMC Field.
