Noah Mathis (Ewing, N.J./Notre Dame) hit a game-tying free throw with seven seconds left for the Lycoming College men's basketball team, but a last-second foul helped Goucher College sneak away from Lamade Gym with a 65-64 Landmark Conference win on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 18.

Jayden Saunders hit the back end of a pair of free throws with 0.9 seconds left for the Gophers (4-11 overall, 3-5 Landmark) after a foul was called in the paint as Saunders drove in for a last second layup attempt.

Hayden Pardoe (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) notched 20 points, five rebounds and three assists to lead the Warriors (2-13 overall, 1-7 Landmark). First-year
Princeton Layton (Katy, Texas/Katy Paetow) posted 11 points and hit two 3-pointers and sophomore
Ethan Bomgardner (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) added nine points and five rebounds. Senior
Ivan Komitski (Sofia, Bulgaria/Lee Academy) added eight points and 10 rebounds and junior
Isaiah Valentine (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) added six points and five rebounds.

The game featured eight lead changes and 11 ties, with neither team leading by more than 10 points throughout the course of the game. The Warriors shot 46 percent from the floot (24-of-52) and held Goucher (4-11 overall, 3-5 Landmark) to 42 percent (22-of-52), but the Gophers hit two more 3-pointers and three more free throws to make up the final margin.

Down 43-38 with 17:13 left in the game, the Warriors went on a 14-2 run to lead 52-45 after a hook shot from Mathis with 12:46 left. Goucher tied the game at 52 with 9:56 left and in the final 10 minutes, the teams were never separated by more than three points. Sophomore
Connor Shanahan (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) hit a 3-pointer with five minutes left to give Lycoming a 60-59 lead before Goucher answered with a 3-pointer. Valentine tied the game with a pull-up jumper with 3:26 left and Komitski hit a free throw to give Lycoming the lead with 2:44 left, but Saunders hit two free throws with 40 seconds left to give Goucher the lead, setting up Mathis' tying free throw with seven seconds left.

Goucher jumped out to a 18-8 lead in the first eight minutes before a 10-point run from the Warriors tied the game at 20 just past the 10-minute mark of the half off a fastbreak jumper from Layton. Layton put the Warriors in the lead with 9:15 left off an old-fashioned three-point play, but Goucher led most of the rest of the half, until Pardoe hit a pair of free throws with 10 seconds left to knot the game at 34. Darnell Morris hit a 3-pointer as time expired on the half to give the Gophers a 37-34 lead at the break.

Jadyss Fifer led the Gophers with 14 points and Can Dalli added 12. Timi Akisanya added seven rebounds.
