WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – A run of 23 straight points in the last four bouts closed out a 35-23 win for the Lycoming College wrestling team over SUNY Cortland to start Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Whitehill Duals, as Lycoming finished 10^th in the 16-team field at Lamade Gym after a 36-15 setback to Ohio Northern University in the ninth-place match.
 
Junior 184-pounder Eli Crum (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs) provided a pin and a tech fall in competition against a pair of regionally-ranked grapplers to highlight the day.
 
After opening the Cortland bout with a pair of forfeits to take a 12-0 lead, the Warriors (8-4 overall) dropped the next four bouts to fall behind 22-12 through the 165-pound match. Sophomore Nolen Zeigler (Loysville, Pa./West Perry) got the Warriors back on track at 174 pounds with a 15-0 technical fall of Gavin Seiler. Crum followed with a second-period pin at 184 pounds against regionally-ranked Robby Cunningham, as Lycoming took a one-point lead. Junior 197-pounder James Ellis (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) followed with a third-period pin, coming from behind in the match and turning a reversal into a pin. Senior Robbie West (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) finished the bout with a pin of Seth Parker at the 4:29 mark to close out the win over the Red Dragons (4-6 overall).
 
Three Lycoming wrestlers picked up wins over regionally-ranked opponents in the dual with 22^nd-ranked Ohio Northern, but the Polar Bears (12-6 overall) won seven bouts in the 36-15 win. Senior 125-pounder Kaden Majcher (Turbotville, Pa./Warrior Run) provided a major decision over Colin Mellott, ranked fifth in Region 4, Zeigler added a pin of Adam Myers, ranked sixth, and Crum posted a 15-0 tech fall of Ajay Lock, ranked fifth.
 
The Warriors get back on the mat on Saturday, Jan. 25, when they head to King's (Pa.) for a 1 p.m. dual meet.
