WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Three Lycoming College wrestlers posted a pin to help lead the team to a 26-22 win over McDaniel College in the final round of the first day of the 36^th annual Budd Whitehill National Duals, as Lycoming went 1-2, with Springfield (24-21) and 14^th-ranked Stevens (31-15) just getting past the homesteaders in Lamade Gym on Friday, Jan. 11.
 
The Warriors will compete in the 9-12 bracket on Saturday, Jan. 12, to finish their run at the duals, facing Cortland at 9 a.m. and either Ohio Northern or Williams at 12 p.m.
 
Sophomore 141-pounder Avery Rosan (Frederica, Del./Polytech), sophomore 174-pounder Nolen Zeigler (Loysville, Pa./West Perry) and junior 184-pounder Eli Crum (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs) each notched pins against the Green Terror, helping account for 18 of the team's 26 points in the win. Senior 125-pounder Kaden Majcher (Turbotville, Pa./Warrior Run) posted a technical fall, 16-0, over Cody Johnson and sophomore Thomas Conselyea (Landing, N.J./Roxbury) added a 9-4 win over regionally-ranked Romeo Tsai at 133 pounds, as the Warriors took a 14-0 lead before McDaniel won the next three bouts to lead 16-14, setting up the meet-clinching pins from Zeigler and Crum.
 
In Lycoming's opening bout of the day, the Warriors fell behind 14-0 before junior Kobin Karper (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) got the Warriors on the board with a pin of Patrick Hickey at 149 pounds. Sophomore Jayden Drummond (Georgetown, Del./Sussex Central) followed with an 11-4 decision over Kayo Torres at 157 pounds and sophomore Kaiden Wagner (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) tied the meet at 14 with a 15-0 technical fall of 11^th-ranked 174-pounder Jake Deguire at 165 pounds. Zeigler capped the run with a 6-3 decision over Nick Rogers before a Springfield (6-0 overall) pin gave it a 20-17 lead. The Warriors took the lead back at 197 pounds, with junior Jimmy Ellis (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) posted a 12-0 major decision against Nick Blitz, but a Springfield major decision at heavyweight made up the final margin.
 
The Warriors were competitive throughout the meet with 14^th-ranked Stevens, but the Ducks stable of four nationally-ranked wrestlers all posted wins to lead it to a 31-15 victory. The Warriors led 10-0 after two bouts, as Majcher was awarded a forfeit at 125 and Conselyea added a 12-4 major decision at 133 pounds over Naci Robinson. Crum provided an upset over Region 2's second-ranked Joel Martsinosky, posting a 15-0 win to stop a set of hard-luck decisions, but that was the only other points the Warriors scored in the meet.
