WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Juniors Riley Marines (East Berlin, Pa. / Bermudian Springs) and Tayah Bauer (Duncannon, Pa. / Susquenita) each scored a goal in the first half for the Lycoming College field hockey team, leading it to its first Landmark Conference win in program history, 2-1, against Goucher at UPMC Field on Saturday, Sept. 28.
With five victories, the Warriors also tied the program record for most season wins with the 1973, 1978, 1985, 1986 and 1989 squads.
In the 26th minute, junior Victoria Burton (Marietta, Pa. / Donegal) received the ball off a penalty corner and passed it to Marines, who scored the Warriors' first goal. Two minutes later, Bauer skirted the ball past the Gophers' goalie, securing the team's second goal minutes before halftime.
Goucher's Charlotte Bloom scored the Gophers' goal in the third quarter, but the Warriors (5-4, 1-1 Landmark) held off the Gophers (6-3, 1-1 Landmark) in the fourth quarter to earn its first conference win since joining the league in 2023.
In the net for the Warriors, junior Isabella Bobé (York Springs, Pa. / Bermudian Springs) notched eight saves to earn the win. Goucher's Katie Bloom blocked 13 shots by the Warriors, with six coming from Marines and five from senior Halie Woodring (Hummelstown, Pa. / Lower Dauphin).
The Warriors return to UPMC Field on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m., for a non-conference game against King's College.
