WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Senior Luke Taylor (Williamsport, Pa. / Word of Life Bible Institute) and first-year Kayvan Shams (Williamsport, Pa. / South Williamsport) each earned Lycoming College men's tennis team wins in singles play to highlight the day as Lycoming opened Landmark Conference play at Drew University on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 21, with Drew posting a 5-2 win.
Shams beat Drew's Pharell Longenbach 6-1, 6-1, at No. 5 singles and Taylor beat Drew's Devan Sutaria, 6-1, 4-6, 10-3 at No. 6. In No. 3 doubles, Taylor and Shams competed against Drew's Owen Reynolds and Cameron Longa, dropping the tiebreaker, 7-4.
Lycoming fell to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the Landmark. Drew improved to 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
The Warriors get back on the court at King's College (Pa.) on Thursday, Oct. 3, at 3 p.m.
