WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – First-year
Kayvan Shams (Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) and senior
Luke Taylor (Williamsport, Pa./Word of Life Bible Institute) each reached the finals of their respective singles flights and also competed together in the finals of the third flight of doubles to highlight the Lycoming College men's tennis team's time at the King's Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 15.
Shams, playing in the No. 5 singles flight, posted a 6-4, 6-4 win over FDU-Florham's Chase Miller in the semifinal on Sunday morning before he was beaten in the final, 6-1, 6-1, by Wilkes' Otarhe Okoh.
Taylor, playing in the No. 6 singles flight, added a 6-1, 6-2 win over Manhattanville's John Curtin in the semifinal before he was defeated, 6-4, 6-1, in the final by Elizabethtown's Kyler Henne.
The pair also fell in the No. 3 doubles final, 8-6, to King's Jacob Nelson and Brendan Turowski.
The Warriors open Landmark Conference play at Drew University on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 1 p.m.
