WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior goalkeeper Isabella Bobé (York Springs, Pa./Bermudian Springs) finished with six saves for the Lycoming College field hockey team, but a third-quarter transition opportunity helped Penn State-Harrisburg post a 1-0 victory on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 31, at UPMC Field.
The Warriors (1-1 overall) fired nine shots in the game and held an 8-4 advantage in penalty corners, but could not find the back of the net. Sophomore Carmen Hannon (Aldie, Va./John Champe) launched three of Lycoming's shots, all of them on net, but Penn State Harrisburg was able to convert all six save opportunities.
The Lions' Sadie Cook scored in the 42nd minute of an assist from Rachel Lane to help lift the Lions (1-0 overall) to their first win in program history, as the new program was playing its first game.
Penn State-Harrisburg attempted 17 shots against the Warriors, with Bobé making six stops and senior Halie Woodring (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) making one defensive save.
The Warriors are back on the field when they face off against Houghton at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at UPMC Field at Keiper Stadium.
