WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Four members of the Lycoming College women's tennis team – senior
Hiyori Iai (Zushi, Japan/Yokohama Science Frontier), junior
Sarah Lanphear (Chittenango, N.Y./Chittenango) and sophomores
Emma Kelchner (Nescopeck, Pa./Central Columbia) and
Greta Kimble (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport Area) - have each earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, the organization announced on Tuesday, May 14.
The award is the second for Lanphear.
Iai, an applied computer science and psychology major, led the Warriors with a 9-5 singles record in 2023-24, also adding two doubles wins while playing anywhere from No. 3-No. 6 in the lineup.
Lanphear, a creative writing and ecology major, posted five singles wins playing in the No. 2-5 slots and added four doubles wins at the No. 2 slot.
Kelchner, a psychology major with an elementary education certification, saw time primarily at No. 2 and 3 singles, winning one match, and she added three doubles wins at No. 1 and No. 3.
Kimble, a criminology major, saw time between No. 4 and No. 6 singles, winning a match, and also won a match at No. 3 doubles.
Eligible student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically, carry at least a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average and have competed in 70 percent of the institution's contests.
The 2024 Academic All-District® Women's Tennis Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
