Reeder, Kelly lead Warriors in finale at Catholic

WASHINGTON D.C. – Sophomores Nick Reeder (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) and Jack Kelly (Alexandria, Va./Alexandria City) led the Lycoming College baseball team with three hits a piece on Sunday afternoon, April 28, but the Catholic University of America posted a 16-7 Landmark Conference win at Talbot Field.
 
Reeder was 3-for-5 with a double and to runs and Kelly was 3-for-4 with a run and two RBI. Sophomore Rick Trapanese (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) went 2-for-3 with a  double and a run as well, as Lycoming (8-29 overall, 2-19 Landmark) wrapped 13 hits in the game.
 
Reeder doubled with one out in the first before first-year Eric MacCluen (Downingtown, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) tripled to right center to give Lycoming the lead. MacCluen also scored ona  sac fly.
 
After Catholic scored four in the bottom of the inning, the Warriors tied the game in the second. Kelly singled with one out, and after a fielder's choice, Reeder singled. A passed ball loaded the bases and Trout singled up the middle for two runs.
 
Catholic scored the next seven runs before Trapanese singled to lead off the sixth before Kelly doubled him in. Sophomore Josh Bottger (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Wilkes-Barre Area) followed with another double to make it 11-6. Catholic scored three more in the bottom of the inning before the Warriors scored their last run in the seventh, as Kelly  singled with two outs to score junior Evan Mok (Daly City, Calif./St. Ignatius), who reached after being hit by a pitch.
 
Logan Eilbacher went 4-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, a homer and five RBI and Zach Burton was 4-for-5 with a double, a homer, two runs and four RBI to lead the Cardinals.
 
Luke Cardman (2-0) earned the win for Catholic, tossing four innings of relief, allowing five hits and two earned runs. He struck out six. Sophomore Jake Wilber (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South) (0-8) pitched 3 2/3 innings for Lycoming, allowing six hits and nine earned runs. He walked five and struck out two.
 
The Warriors are back in action on Friday, May 3, when they host Elizabethtown College at 4 p.m. at Brandon Park.
