Trout, Reeder help Warriors open Brandon Park

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Sophomore Nick Reeder (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) had a pair of hits, a run and RBI and senior Joey Trout (North East, Md./St. Elizabeth) wrapped three hits to help the Lycoming College baseball team christen brand-new Brandon Park Baseball Field, as Lycoming fell, 7-4, to Lancaster Bible College in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon, April 20.

Dylan Witkowski hit a home run in the first at bat in the new ballpark for the Chargers (18-12-1 overall, who took a 2-0 lead in the first inning.

Reeder reached when he struck out on a passed ball to lead off the game for the Warriors (5-24 overall) and junior Jake Schilling (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) was hit by a pitch. A double steal moved each up a base and Trout followed with an opposite field single. A fielder's choice allowed Schilling to tie the game at one.

The Chargers scored single runs in the second and fourth before a three-run eighth. In the ninth, the Warriors broke through with a rally, as sophomore Josh Bottger (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Wilkes-Barre) was hit by a pitch before sophomore pinch-hitter Zach Kudlacik (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area) singled up the middle to put two runners on. Reeder followed with a single into left center. A Schilling walk loaded the bases and brought the tying run to the plate, but a groundball double play ended the threat.

Trout was 3-for-5 with a double and RBI and Reeder was 2-for-4 with a run, RBI and three stolen bases.

Witkowski led the Chargers, going 3-for-5 with a run and three RBI.
