WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior Joey Hoover (Selinsgrove, Pa./ Selinsgrove Area) put up three goals and Jakob Switzer (West Pittston, Pa./ Wyoming Area) had six caused turnovers, setting a school record, as the Lycoming College men's lacrosse team fell to Drew University, 12-6, in Landmark Conference play on Saturday, April 13 at UPMC Field.
Hoover put up his goals in the first, third and fourth period. Switzer had two caused turnovers in the first half of the game and added on four more in the second half, as he broke the single-season record of 31 set by Brody Balasa (2022), finishing the game with 33. Senior Rory Hines (Cortland, N.Y./ Cortland) put up two goals and senior Andrew Ednie (Farmingville, N.Y./ Sachem East) put up a goal as well.
The Warriors (3-7 overall, 1-5 Landmark) came back in the fourth period, notching the period's first goal to make it a two-goal game at 8-6, on a swift groundball pickup and putback from Hoover. However, Drew scored the last four goals to keep the game out of reach.
Drew (7-7 overall, 2-4 Landmark) scored seven goals in the first half, leading 7-3 at halftime, with the Rangers opening up a three-goal lead in the first quarter that it kept until Hoover's fourth-quarter score..
Charlie Collins, Brett Spafford each had three goals, with Collins adding two assists. Kellum Foster-Palmer had a goal and three assists and GJ Nazziola notched 15 groundballs.
Junior Ben Franco (Macungie, Pa./ Emmaus) made 18 saves, facing 30 shots on goal, giving him 621 saves in his career. Joe Barnish faced 13 shots on goal and made seven saves for Drew.
The Warriors will be back in action Wednesday, April 17, as they visit Juniata College at 7 p.m. for a Landmark Conference game.
