Warriors fall to Moravian in series opener

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Sophomores Nick Reeder (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) and Nick Hoheb (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) each had a pair of hits to lead the Lycoming College baseball team which fell to Moravian University, 14-4, in Landmark Conference action at Gillespie Field on Friday afternoon, March 29. 

Reeder was 2-for-3 with a run and a walk and Hoheb was 2-for-4 with a RBI. Junior Evan Mok (Daly City, Calif./St. Ignatius) also had a homer for the Warriors (4-16 overall, 1-8 Landmark). 

The Warriors jumped out with two runs in the first, as Reeder doubled with two outs, junior Danny DeLucas (Whittier, Calif./La Serna) was hit by a pitch and Hoheb singled in a run before a double steal attempt allowed DeLucas to score. 

The Greyhounds (9-11 overall, 3-4 Landmark) took the lead with eight straight runs in the second to fourth innings. The Warriors benefitted from Mok's fifth inning homer and scored once more in the seventh, as sophomore Rick Trapanese (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) singled to lead off, took second and third on balks and scored on an error. 

Moravian scored two runs each in the sixth, seventh and eighth frames to finish off the win, however. 

Paul Croyle led the Greyhounds, going 3-for-5 with a homer, a double and three RBI. Nick Henry posted two hits and three RBI and Chris Pow also had three RBI. 

David Ciaccio (4-1) pitched six innings, allowing six hits and three runs. He struck out seven. Reeder (0-3) allowed four runs in 2 2/3 innings. He walked three and struck out two. 

The Warriors wrap up the three-game set at Moravian on Saturday, March 30, with a 12 p.m. doubleheader.
