WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior Emily Lockard (Benton, Pa./ Benton Area) and junior Ashley Yoh (Myerstown, Pa./Eastern Lebanon County) led the Lycoming College women's basketball team with a pair of double-doubles, leading the team to a 69-44 win over Goucher College in Landmark Conference play at Lamade Gym on Saturday, Feb. 3.
Lockard now has six double-doubles for the season, as she totaled 12 points and a career-high 17 rebounds, also crossing 600 career points with her eighth of 12 in the game. Yoh has three double-doubles this year, as she led the Warriors with 13 points and pulled down 12 rebounds.
Sophomore Kami Abdo (Pottsville, Pa./Nativity BVM) was also in double figures, posting 11 points for the Warriors (11-10 overall, 5-9 Landmark) as well as three assists and four rebounds. Sophomore Katie Bena (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) put the game on ice in the fourth quarter, as she nailed a trio of trifectas for nine points.
After four ties and four lead changes in the game's first six minutes, a pair of free throws from junior Alicia Goldenziel (Moscow, Pa./North Pocono) was followed by a jumper from Yoh and a layup from first-year Makenna Hartman (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley), helping Lycoming take a four-point lead into the second quarter, where they scored the first 10 points to get the lead into double-digits, where it stayed until an eight-point Goucher run in the third cut the lead to six at 35-29.
A 3-pointer from junior Mya Wetzel (Frackville, Pa./North Schuylkill) helped ignite an 18-3 run to end the third, though, and Lycoming pushed the lead to as many as 33 after the last of Bena's fourth quarter 3-pointers with 3:33 left.
Goucher (1-20 overall, 1-13 Landmark) was led by Darby Sherman with 11 points and Savannah Holmes grabbed 11 rebounds.
The Warriors will be back on the court Wednesday, Feb. 7, as they visit Susquehanna University in Landmark Conference play at 7 p.m.
