Reeder leads Warriors with two hits, steal at Marymount

MARYMOUNT, Va. – Sophomore Nick Reeder (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) led the Lycoming College baseball team with two hits and a steal, but Marymount University was able to break open the game with a three-run seventh inning in a 4-0 non-conference win on Saturday, Feb. 24, at Capital One Park.
 
Reeder had two of the Warriors' four hits in the contest and he reached scoring position twice, stealing second in the third with two outs and reaching third in the ninth after a single to center field to lead off. First year Eric MacCluen (Downingtown, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) had a second-inning infield hit and reached second and junior Danny DeLucas (Whittier, Calif./La Serna) had a ninth-inning single.
 
The Warriors (0-4 overall) left five runners on base, as David Muirhead tossed 7 2/3 inning scoreless, allowing two hits and two walks and striking out five to earn the win for the Saints. Jordan Dickson earned the save, allowing two hits and striking out one in the last 1 1/3 innings.
 
The Saints (3-0 overall) got on the board in the fifth inning, with a single, a walk and a bunt single loading the bases before a ground ball scored a run. In the eighth, Marymount scored three times thanks to the benefit of three walks and an error.
 
Senior Zac Zaller (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) (0-2 overall) provided a quality start for the Warriors, tossing six innings, allowing five hits, a run and a walk while striking out five.
 
The Warriors are back in action on Sunday, Feb. 25, when they face Marymount in a 12 p.m. seven-nine inning doubleheader.
