BALTIMORE, Md. – Senior Cathryn Brought (Wellsboro, Pa./ Wellsboro Area) finished second in the 100-yard freestyle with a school-record breaking 53.58 to highlight the final day of the Landmark Conference Championships for the Lycoming College women's swimming team, which finished in sixth place with 171 points at the Mangione Aquatic Center in Baltimore on Sunday, Feb. 18.
Brought actually broke her own school-record twice, as she posted a 53.94 in the preliminaries to best her time of 54.07 set at the 2023 MAC Championships. In the finals, her time of 53.58 was just behind Sarah Marston from Elizabethtown's 53.15.
The Warrior women finished the meet by taking seventh in the 400-yard freestyle relay, with the team of sophomore Megan Lonergan (York, Pa./York Suburban), first-year Gwen Fox (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area), senior Courtney Chapman (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) and Brought notched a time of 4:00.90.
The Warriors finished sixth with 171 points, just ahead of Goucher, which had 160. Scranton won the 10-team championships with 848 points.
Senior Eliot Keith (New Ringgold, Pa./ Blue Mountain) finished 11th in the 200-yard breaststroke, posting a 2:17.60, the sixth-fastest time in program history, helping the Warrior men finish eighth with 17 points. Catholic won the team title with 830.5 points.
Chapman placed 12th in the 200-yard butterfly, posting a 2:34.15 and first-year Londyn Snyder (Halifax, Pa./ Halifax Area) took 14th with a 2:49.48.
Lonergan also factored into the scoring in the 1,650-yard freestyle, posting a 20:23.97 to finish 16th, just touching out teammate Fox who posted a 20:24.44.
First-year Drew Degnan (Elmira, N.Y./ Elmira) also posted a career-best 51.04 in the 100-yard freestyle. First-year Ana Holbrook (Parker, Colo./Douglas Early Colleges) also had a career-best 2:42.94 in the 200-yard backstroke.
The Warriors close out their swimming season. The men's swim team finishing in eighth and the women's swimming team placing sixth at their first Landmark Conference Championship appearance.
