BALTIMORE, Md. – On day three of the Landmark Conference Championships, the Lycoming College swimming team had two seniors Eliot Keith (New Ringgold, Pa./ Blue Mountain) and Cathryn Brought (Wellsboro, Pa./ Wellsboro Area) post top-five swims in program history to highlight the evening at the Mangione Aquatic Center in Baltimore, Maryland on Saturday, Feb. 17.
Brought made her second appearance in the finals at the championships, posting a career-best 1:59.35 to take seventh in the 200-yard freestyle with the third-fastest time in program history. Keith qualified for the 'B' final in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing ninth with a 1:00.59, the fourth-fastest time in program history.
Lycoming had two other swimmers reach the 'B' final of the 200-yard freestyle, with first-year Gwen Fox (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) taking 13th in a career-best 2:07.31 and sophomore Megan Lonergan (York, Pa./York Suburban) notching a 2:11.14 to take 15th.
The Warrior women also took ninth in the 200-yard freestyle relay, with the team of Fox, first-year Anasten Holbrook (Parker, Colo./Colorado Early Colleges-Douglas County), Lonergan and Brought posting a time of 1:50.05.
First-year Drew Degnan (Elmira, N.Y./ Elmira) posted a career-best 57.43 in the 100-yard butterfly. First-year Londyn Snyder (Halifax, Pa./ Halifax Area) competed in the 400-yard individual medley, placing 18th with a 5:50.50 and Courtney Chapman (Warminster, Pa./ William Tennent) placed 19th in the 100-yard butterfly with a season-best 1:08.02.
The women remain in sixth place with 121 points, sitting ahead of Goucher with 113. Scranton leads the women's championships with 602 points. Catholic (567.5) leads Drew by 1.5 points on the men's side entering the last day of the championships. Lycoming is eighth with 11 points.
The Warriors will be back in action on Sunday, Feb. 18 for the final day of the Landmark Conference Championships with prelims starting at 10 a.m., for the 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, and 200-yard butterfly. Finals will include the 1,650-yard freestyle and the 400-yard freestyle relay in the 5 p.m. session.
