Yoh post double-double in Daytona Beach

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Senior Ashley Yoh (Myerstown, Pa. / Eastern Lebanon County) posted 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Lycoming College women's basketball team in its first game at the Daytona Beach Shootout, falling 60-47 to LeTourneau University on Friday morning, Dec. 20, at the Ocean Center.

In the first quarter, senior Meghan Dufner (Washington, N.J. / Warren Hills Regional) led Lycoming with two jumpers and two free throws. Junior Allison Fisher (Lower Burrell, Pa. / Burrell) hit a free throw, and sophomore Alyssa Reisinger (Kulpmont, Pa. / Mount Carmel Area) added a layup in the paint to give Lycoming a 9-8 lead.

Senior Mya Wetzel (Frackville, Pa. / North Schuylkill) kicked off the second quarter with a layup in the paint. Yoh, junior Kami Abdo (Pottsville, Pa. / Nativity BVM), and Dufner each followed up with jumpers. Yoh added a layup before LeTourneau claimed the lead, 23-19, at the end of the half.

Senior Alicia Goldenziel (Moscow, Pa. / North Pocono) hit a layup and Abdo followed up with a 3-pointer in the first minute of the third quarter. Yoh shot two free throws and a layup, and Adbo added a layup to finish an 11-point run for the Warriors. Wetzel contributed a jumper and layup in the paint to widen Lycoming's lead to 34-25. In the last two minutes of play, Dufner and Goldenziel hit free throws and Abdo notched a layup, as Lycoming finished the quarter with a three-point advantage.

In the fourth quarter, LeTourneau scored the first 13 points to claim a 49-30 lead with 4:46 left. Yoh shot a jumper and a layup to stop the run, but LeTourneau followed up with 11 more points.  First-year Jocelyn McCracken (Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore Area) and first-year Summer Emlet (New Cumberland, Pa. / Red Land) closed out the period with free throws, and junior Katie Bena (Clarksville, Md. / River Hill) added the Warriors' last layup.

Dufner and Abdo both secured nine points, and Abdo also added five rebounds and two assists to lead the Warriors (1-8 overall). Wetzel also added six points and five steals and Goldenziel followed up with four points and six rebounds.

Kylie Weeks led the LeTourneau (5-7 overall) with 13 points and Mariana Espinosa added 12 to go with seven assists. Sara Savage had 10 rebounds and Future Asevado added five steals.


The Warriors finish their time at the Daytona Beach Shootout on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 2 p.m. for against eighth-ranked Wis.-Whitewater.
