Reisinger, Yoh led rally against Nazareth

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Sophomore Alyssa Reisinger (Kulpmont, Pa. / Mount Carmel Area) led the Lycoming College women's basketball team in her debut with 12 points and senior Ashley Yoh (Myerstown, Pa. / Eastern Lebanon County) contributed 10 more as the team fell, 71-50, against Nazareth on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 14, at Kidera Gym.  

Reisinger secured 12 points, seven rebounds and one block to lead the Warriors' efforts, and Yoh contributed 10 points, seven rebounds, and three steals. Senior Meghan Dufner (Washington, N.J. / Warren Hills Regional) added eight points and two steals.

To kick off the first quarter, Yoh hit a jumper in the first minute, and sophomore Makenna Hartman (Alexandria, Pa. / Juniata Valley) added another jumper two minutes later, but Nazareth claimed an early lead. Reisinger and sophomore Sydnie Stone (Muncy Valley, Pa. / Montoursville Area) contributed free throws in the final minutes of the quarter. The Warriors (1-5 overall) trailed, 23-7, at the end of the period.

A minute into the second quarter, Reisinger hit a jumper and Yoh followed with a layup. Dufner and Yoh added free throws in the next four minutes of play before junior Allison Fisher (Lower Burrell, Pa. / Burrell) dropped in a successful layup. Fisher and Yoh closed the period with free throws, bringing the score to 40-21 at the break. 

Following halftime, Reisinger began the Warriors' run with a layup. Dufner and Yoh followed suit with jumpers, before Reisinger returned with two successful free throws. Dufner added two more layups and Reisinger hit a jumper as the quarter ticked down, as Lycoming outscored the Golden Flyers, 14-10, in the period.

Junior Kami Abdo (Pottsville, Pa. / Nativity BVM) posted a layup and a 3-pointer in the first three minutes to start Lycoming's final-period rally. Sophomore Ann-Marie McMurtrie (Centre Hall, Pa. / Penns Valley) hit a layup a minute later as Reisinger came in with two more free throws, keeping the Warriors within 17 with five minutes remaining. Senior Alicia Goldenziel (Moscow, Pa. / North Pocono) notched a jumper and two free throws in the final two minutes, and first-year Summer Emlet (New Cumberland, Pa. / Red Land) hit a jumper with two seconds remaining to finish the period.

  

Katie MacLachlan led Nazareth (4-2 overall) with 14 points, five rebounds, four assists, and one block. Madalyn Kelly added 13 points and a block. Molly Benetti posted 13 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks.

The Warriors travel to Bryn Athyn, Pa., on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m. for a non-conference game against Bryn Athyn College.
