ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Junior Kami Abdo (Pottsville, Pa. / Nativity BVM) led the Lycoming College women's basketball team with seven points as it fell, 88-31, to Elizabethtown College in Landmark Conference play on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 23, at Thompson Gymnasium.
Junior Allison Fisher (Lower Burrell, Pa. / Burrell) and senior Ashley Yoh (Myerstown, Pa. / Eastern Lebanon County) secured five points each. Senior Mya Wetzel (Frackville, Pa. / North Schuylkill) secured six rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block, and first-year Jocelyn McCracken (Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore Area) also posted four points, five rebounds, and two steals for the Warriors (0-4 overall, 0-2 Landmark).
Elizabethtown (3-1 overall, 2-0 Landmark) jumped out with 17 straight points to control the game. Abdo got the Warriors on the scoreboard with a 3-pointer and a minute later, Yoh added two free throws. Fisher hit a 3-pointer for the Warriors in the second quarter, assisted by sophomore Ann-Marie McMurtrie (Centre Hall, Pa. / Penns Valley), and she added a floating jump shot in the second quarter. McCracken hit a jumper and a step back later in the period before Yoh hit a successful layup to cap the team's scoring in the half.
Yoh hit a free throw and Abdo added two more before hitting a driving layup in the third quarter. Junior Katie Bena (Clarksville, Md. / River Hill) hit a 3, sophomore Makenna Hartman (Alexandria, Pa. / Juniata Valley) hit a jumper and McMurtrie added a free throw and a layup in the fourth quarter before senior Sarah Lanphear (Chittenango, N.Y. / Chittenango) hit a floater to cap the team's scoring.
Makenna Mummert led the Blue Jays with 11 points. Summer McNulty and DaniRae Renno also contributed eight points, with Renno grabbing 12 rebounds. Elizabethtown shot 48 percent (34-of-71) from the floor.
The Warriors return to Lamade Gym on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. for a Landmark Conference game against Wilkes University.
