SCRANTON, Pa. – First-year Sean Martinez  (Willow Grove, Pa. / Upper Moreland) posted a top-five finish in the 200-yard freestyle and two top 10 finishes to lead the Lycoming College swimming teams as they kicked off the Electric City Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 23, at Marywood University Aquatic Center in Scranton, Pa.

Sophomore Drew Degnan (Elmira, N.Y. / Elmira), sophomore Will Eberz (Stroudsburg, Pa. / Stroudsburg), first-year Kiara Vasquez (Hazleton, Pa. / Hazleton Area Academy of Sciences), sophomore Megan Klansek (Hanover, Pa. / Southwestern), and senior Brian Hulsey (Annapolis, Md. / Annapolis Area Christian) all secured personal-best times during the meet.

The women finished the day in sixth in the eight-team field with 92 points, while Scranton leads the field with 875 points.

The 200-yard medley relay finished eighth in 1:52.08, nearly a six-second drop off their season-best time from sophomore Gwyn Fox (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area), junior Megan Lonergan (York, Pa. / York Suburban), Klansek and first-year Madison Robbins (Wellsboro, Pa. / Wellsboro Area).

Robbins dropped nearly 20 seconds off her previous-best in the 500-yard freestyle, posting a 5:58.55, while Lonergan finished 13^th in 5:56.03.

Sophomore Londyn Snyder (Halifax, Pa. / Halifax Area) also posted a 1:13.26 finish time in the 100-yard butterfly, improving by 3.97 seconds in the evening heat.

Sophomore Anasten Holbrook (Parker, Colo. / Colorado Early Colleges-Douglas County) improved her 200-yard IM time by 2.39 seconds and her 100-yard backstroke by 1.01 seconds.

Lonergan (1:14.02), Vasquez (1:51.00), and sophomore Megan Klansek (Hanover, Pa. / Southwestern) (1:18.00) also swam in the 100-yard backstroke. Klansek surpassed her previous-best in the 100-yard backstroke by 4.99 seconds to finish in 1:13.01. Klansek also competed in the 50-yard freestyle with a 28.75 finish.

Lonergan, Robbins, Snyder, and Fox also improved their 400-yard medley relay time by 7.62 seconds for a finish time of 4:44.66.

The men's team finished the day in fifth place with 107 points while Scranton leads the invitational with 827 points.

Martinez improved his 500-meter freestyle time by 11.27 seconds with a finish time of 5:10.12 to take eighth and his 200-yard freestyle time by 2.06 seconds for a finish time of 1:52.15 to take fifth.

Degnan also finished in the top 10 in a pair of events, taking ninth in the 50-yard freestyle at 23.32 and seventh in the 100-yard butterfly in 56.47.

All of the Warriors improved their 50-yard freestyle with Hulsey dropping 3.41 seconds, and Eberz 0.24 seconds.

Hulsey also secured a personal-best time in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:17.04) to take 14^th and Eberz notched a 1:16.40 (a 0.87 second drop) to take 13th.

The men's 200-yard medley relay team of Degnan, Martinez, Hulsey and Eberz improved their time by 9.46 seconds with a time of 1:39.54.

The Warriors are back at the Marywood University Aquatic Center on Sunday, Nov. 24, finishing the Electric City Invitational with the final session at 11 a.m.
