Four Warriors in double figures at Etown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Sophomore Hayden Pardoe (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) finished with 19 points to lead four Lycoming College men's basketball players in double figures, but Elizabethtown College shot 57 percent from the field in a 103-77 Landmark Conference win on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 23, at Thompson Gymnasium.
 
Pardoe was 6-of-10 from the field and 4-of-7 from 3-point range, while adding eight rebounds and two assists for the Warriors (1-5 overall, 1-1 Landmark). Senior Isaiah Valentine (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) added 13 points and two assists, first-year Gyasi Miller (Philadelphia, Pa./Shipley School) added 12 points, hitting all four of his 3-point attempts, and sophomore Connor Shanahan (Chester Springs, Pa./West Chester) added 11 points.
 
Both teams shot well offensively in the first half, with Elizabethtown (3-2 overall, 2-1 Landmark) shooting 57 percent (20-of-35) and Lycoming 44 percent (12-of-27), helping the teams combine to rack up 90 combined points. Elizabethtown led 18-9 five minutes into the game before the Warriors cut that down to 20-17 after a 3-pointer from Pardoe with 11:34 left in the half. The Blue Jays answered with an 18-5 run to lead 42-27 with 5:08 left and led by 14 at the break, 52-38. Pardoe led the Warriors with 17 points in the half.
 
The Blue Jays led by 17 a minute into the second half, but the Warriors cut that lead down to nine a couple minutes later and got as close as eight after a 3-pointer from sophomore Misaias Herrera (Katy, Texas/Katy Jordan) and were within nine after a trey from Miller with 10:07 left, but a 20-5 run over the next 4:49 put the Blue Jays firmly in control, 95-71.
 
Rance Russo led the Blue Jays with 35 points and Austin Finarelli added 19. E.J. Finney had seven assists.
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Monday, Nov. 25, when they head to King's College (Pa.) for a 7 p.m. non-conference matchup.
