WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Sophomore Drew Degnan (Elmira, N.Y. / Elmira) and first-year Sean Martinez (Willow Grove, Pa. / Upper Moreland) each earned a first-place and second-place finish in their individual events to lead the Lycoming College men's swimming team in a dual meet against Juniata and Susquehanna on Friday evening, Nov. 15.
Leading the Warrior men, Degnan secured a first-place finish in the 50-meter butterfly with a time of 29.22. Swimming a tight race in the 100-meter butterfly, Degnan also notched a second-place finish with a time of 1:05.41.
Martinez notched a first-place finish in the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 10:00.42. Martinez also finished second in the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 4:35.63, less than a second after the first-place finisher.
On the women's team, sophomore Gwyn Fox (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area) placed second in the 50-meter freestyle (30.70), finishing less than a second after the first-place finisher. In the same heat, sophomore Megan Klansek (Hanover, Pa. / Southwestern) posted a strong 33.37. First-year Maddi Robbins (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro) took fourth in the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:30.07 and junior Megan Lonergan (York, Pa./York Suburban) took fourth in the 200-meter freestyle (2:32.76).
Sophomore Will Eberz (Stroudsburg, Pa. / Stroudsburg) finished the 100 SC-meter breaststroke in fourth with a strong time of 1:27.39.
The Warriors travel to Scranton, Pa., on Friday, Nov. 22, for the Electric City Invitational.
