SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Junior
Ivan Komitski (Sofia, Bulgaria/Lee Academy) posted a game-high 18 points thanks to a 7-of-8 performance from the floor to lead the Lycoming College men's basketball team, but league-leading Susquehanna University shot 60 percent from 3-point range in the second half to post a 70-65 Landmark Conference win on Tuesday evening, Jan. 9.

Komitski, who hit 3-of-4 from 3-point range to pace the Warriors (6-8 overall, 2-5 Landmark) was one of three to finish in double figures, along with senior
Steven Hamilton (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville Area), who moved within six points of 900 in his career with 17 points, and sophomore
Isaiah Valentine (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) added 14 points.

The teams worked through three ties and three lead changes in the first half, with neither team leading by more than five until Lycoming finished the half on a 12-4 run, with Hamilton pulling up for three at the buzzer to give the team a 32-24 halftime lead.

A jumper by senior
Brendon Blackson (Laurel, Md./Laurel) got the lead to 10 points on the first possession of the second half, and a 3-pointer from Komitski made it 46-35 with 13:51 left, but the River Hawks (9-4 overall, 6-0 Landmark) went on a 14-3 run to tie the game at 49 off a 3-pointer from M Pirone with 9:33 left.

After a fastbreak bucket from Valentine, the River Hawks scored the next four points and got the lead to six with 4:15 left before the Warriors worked it back to a point at 66-65 with 1:16 left after a layup from Hamilton. Susquehanna hit 4-of-6 at the free throw line in the waning seconds to hold off Lycoming.

Steven Ressler led the River Hawks with 18 points and four assists, Brandon Lavitt notched 15 points and nine rebounds and Cooper Haberern added 13 points and seven rebounds.

The Warriors get back on the court on Friday, Jan. 12, when they head to Goucher College for a 2 p.m. Landmark Conference game before the women play at 4 p.m.
