Yoh scores career high against Drew

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior Ashley Yoh (Myerstown, Pa./ELCO) led the Lycoming College women's basketball team with a career-high 19 points and Lycoming rallied from a 21-point first-quarter deficit, but fell to Drew University, 71-64, in Landmark Conference play at Lamade Gym on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 27.

Yoh hit 6-of-14 from the field and all seven free throws to reach her career-high 19 points, also contributing two assists and two blocks. Junior Mya Wetzel (Frackville, Pa./North Schuylkill), junior Meghan Dufner (Washington, N.J./ Warren Hills Regional), and senior Emily Lockard (Benton, Pa./Benton Area) all finished in double figures for the Warriors (10-9 overall, 4-8 Landmark), as Lockard put up 12 points to go with 10 rebounds, Dufner had 11 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals and Wetzel added 10 points, nine of which were from three 3-pointers.

The Rangers (7-12 overall, 5-7 Landmark)  opened the game with a  26-5 run in the first quarter and led 38-16 at halftime, but the Warriors went to work in the second half, scoring 48 points and closing within single digits with 3:40 left off a pair of free throws from Yoh that made it 63-55, then a Yoh jumper made it 64-59 with 2:05 left. A 3-pointer from Wetzel with 54 seconds left kept it a five-point game, but the Rangers were able to hit all four free throws in the final 45 seconds to close out the win.

Maddie Beyer (12), Amy Rachilla (11) and Gianna Pica (10) all were in double digits for the Rangers. Jamie Struble also led Drew with eight rebounds and Rachilla posted seven assists and three steals.

Junior Alicia Goldenziel (Moscow, Pa./North Pocono) and sophomore Kami Abdo (Pottsville, Pa./Nativity BVM) also added six points for the Warriors, with Goldenziel adding five rebounds and Abdo notching three of the team's 11 steals.

The Warriors will be back in action in Landmark Conference play as they head to Juniata College on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at 7 p.m.
