WILLIAMSPORT, Pa – Senior Cathryn Brought (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) was just short of breaking another pool record for the Lycoming College women's swim team, this time in the 200-yard freestyle, as she led team to a 92-33 win with two other wins over King's College at Lamade Natatorium on Saturday, Jan. 13. The men fell to the Monarchs, 100-55.
Brought swam a 2:02.04 in the 200-yard freestyle, just a second off the pool record of 2:01.02 set by M. Lair Ferrari of Ursinus in 2010. She also won the 100-yard freestyle (56.36) along with helping her team of senior Courtney Chapman (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent), sophomore Megan Lonergan (York, Pa./York Suburban), and first-year Gwyn Fox (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) win the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:56.34).
Chapman and Fox were also on the winning team for the 200-yard medley relay (2:16.19), along with first-years Ana Holbrook (Parker, Colo./Colorado Early Colleges-Douglas County) and Londyn Snyder (Halifax, Pa./Halifax Area). Chapman also won the 100-yard butterfly (1:11.62), Holbrook took the 200-yard individual medley (2:50.17), Snyder won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:23.12) and Lonergan took the 500-yard freestyle (6:04.06).
Senior Eliot Keith (New Ringgold, Pa./Blue Mountain) was a winner in all three of his individual events to pace the men's team, taking the 200-yard individual medley (2:17.64), 100-yard freestyle (51.33) and 100-yard backstroke (1:04.41). First-year Drew Degnan (Elmira, N.Y./Elmira) also placed first in the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.76).
The Warriors will be back in the water Saturday, Jan. 20, at 1 p.m. as they head to Wilkes for a 1 p.m. Landmark Conference dual meet.
