WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior Kaden Majcher (Turbotville, Pa./Warrior Run) led the 21^st-ranked Lycoming College wrestling team with three major decisions to kick off the Budd Whitehill National Duals on Friday, Jan. 12, at Lamade Gymnasium, helping the team to a 1-2 mark, as it downed York (Pa.), 35-7, before falling to Washington & Lee, 34-10, and 22^nd-ranked Ohio Northern, 32-12.
 
The Warriors (5-2 overall) will finish the duals in the ninth-place bracket, facing McDaniel at 9 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 13, and will face either Messiah or the Milwaukee School of Engineering depending on the results of their first matches at 12 p.m.
 
The Warriors won eight of the 10 bouts in a 35-7 opening-round win over York (0-10 overall), using bonus points in six of the matches and winning the last five weight classes.
 
Majcher started the match with a 16-5 major decision against Jacob Kresecki at 125 and junior Cooper Gilham (Bellfonte, Pa./Bald Eagle Area) added a 14-3 major decision against Bryan Diaz at 141 before senior Wiley Kahler (Pottsgrove, Pa./Nativity BVM) posted an 18-2 technical fall of Joseph Cinquemani at 149.
 
Junior Chase Chapman (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) started Lycoming run of five straight wins at 165, pinning Justice Hockenberry-Folk in 3:33 before sophomore 174-pounder Eli Crum (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) posted a 15-0 tech fall over Jared Townsend. Sophomore Jimmy Ellis (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) and senior Gable Crebs (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) each followed with decisions before junior Robbie West (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) capped the match with a 16-0 tech fall at heavyweight against Derek Martin.
 
The Warriors fell to Washington & Lee (6-2 overall), 34-10, in the second match, dropping the last eight matches to the Generals. After a forfeit win at 125, Majcher posted a 15-6 major decision over Calvin Widemer while wrestling up a weight class at 133.
 
To close the day, Lycoming won three bouts in a 32-12 defeat against 22^nd-ranked Ohio Northern (10-7 overall). Majcher added his third straight major decision, downing regionally-ranked Colin Mellott, 10-0, Chapman beat Kael Margraf, 5-0 at 165, and Crum posted a 15-0 technical fall against John Radey at 174.
