Reeder, Campbell go back-to-back against Stevens

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – First-year Nick Reeder (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) and junior Braden Campbell (Centerville, Utah/Cooper Hills) hit back-to-back homers in the bottom of the third inning, but a two-run homer from Stevens Institute of Technology in the sixth was the difference in a 4-3 setback for the Lycoming College baseball team at the South Williamsport Community Park on Sunday, April 23.

After Stevens (24-11 overall, 14-7 MAC Freedom) scored twice in the opening frame, the Warriors (11-22 overall, 8-14 MAC Freedom) tied it in the third when Reeder lifted a homer to center field before Campbell drilled the next pitch with a big fly to left field.

The Warriors took the lead in the fifth when first-year Greg Wirin (Interlaken, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) was hit by a pitch. Junior pinch-runner Liam Kaminski (Omaha, Neb./Roncalli) moved to second on a sac bunt, third on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-2.

The Ducks took the lead, though, in the sixth when Jack Irby hit a two-out homer to right field and didn't allow a runner past first in the last four innings.

Both of Lycoming's pitchers looked sharp, with first-year Jake Wilber (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South) tossing five innings, allowing four hits and two runs. He struck out four. First-year Noah Miller (Winter Springs, Fla./Winter Springs) threw the last four innings, allowing five hits and two runs. He struck out four and walked one.

Erik Sibbach (6-3) earned the win, tossing four innings and allowing two hits and three runs. He walked one and struck out five. Anthony Pron earned the save, striking out three in 1 1/3 scoreless innings.

Jack Irby went 2-for-3 with two runs, a homer and three RBI to lead the Ducks and Frank Tonina went 3-for-4 with a double and a RBI.

The Warriors are back on the field on Tuesday, April 25, at 5 p.m. when they host Delaware Valley University in a key MAC Freedom matchup at Muncy Bank Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field.
