Warriors fall to River Hawks

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – First-years Rick Trapanese (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) and Kai Foster (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) singled and scored to lead the Lycoming College baseball team, which fell to Susquehanna University, 9-2, in non-conference action at Bollinger Field on Wednesday afternoon, April 12.
 
Lycoming (8-17 overall) scored in the seventh, as Trapanese singled with one out and came around to score on a two-out single from first-year Cameron Bailey (Mercersburg, Pa./James Buchanan).
 
In the ninth, Foster singled with one out before two walks loaded the bases, setting up a sac fly to score Foster.
 
Susquehanna (16-12 overall) scored a bulk of its runs in two innings, scoring three in the third and five in the eighth to go with one run in the seventh.
 
Tony Rossi led the River Hawks, going 3-for-5 with a run and two RBI and Lance Book went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Brock Veit scored three runs.
 
First-year Sammy Polott (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) took the loss, allowing two earned runs in 2 2/3 innings. He gave up five hits, walked two and struck out one.
 
First-year Jack Kelly (Alexandria, Va./Alexandria City) threw 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief, allowing a hit and striking out four and first-year Matt Guido (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) pitched two innings, allowing two hits, a walk and a run. He struck out one.
 
Jack Greco earned the win, throwing four hitless innings to start the game. He walked two and struck out two.
 
The Warriors get back on the field on Friday, April 14, when they head to 21st-ranked Misericordia for a 3:30 p.m. game.
