Warriors fall to Marywood

SCRANTON, Pa. – First-year Kai Foster (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) had a pair of hits and sophomore Jake Schilling (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) drove in a run for the seventh time in the past eight games for the Lycoming College baseball team, which fell to Marywood University, 4-1, in a non-conference tilt at Pacers Field on Thursday, March 30.
 
Seven Warriors (4-13 overall) combined on a six-hitter, striking out eight Pacers (9-9 overall) in the game. First-years Joel Inman (Berlin, N.J./Eastern Regional), Sammy Polott (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson),Mason Drozal (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) and Mark Yorio (Carmel, N.Y./Carmel) tossed 5 1/3 innings of scoreless relief, with Inman striking out three and allowing just a hit in 2 1/3 innings and Polott whiffing two batters.
 
The Warriors scored first in the first inning, as first-year Nick Reeder (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) reached on an infield single and he stole second before scoring on a two-out single to right field from Schilling.
 
The Pacers tied the game in the first before adding two runs in the second and one in the sixth.
 
First-year Stargell Fuhr (Volant, Pa./Kennedy Catholic) took the loss, allowing two runs, a hit and four walks in the second inning.
 
Danny Cossa (1-0) earned the win for the Pacers, allowing four hits, two walks and a run in five innings. He struck out six. Michael Aronica earned his first save, striking out two in a perfect ninth.
 
Adam Ginsberg went 3-for-5 with two runs and a double and Christian Michak went 1-for-4 with two runs.
 
The Warriors get back on the field on Sunday, April 2, when they head to Delaware Valley University for a 12 p.m. MAC Freedom doubleheader.
