Warriors charge at Gettysburg falls short

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – A five-run ninth inning helped the Lycoming College baseball team finish strong on Thursday afternoon, March 16, as it fell to Gettysburg College, 14-6, in non-conference action at Kirchoff Field.

Lycoming (1-7 overall) sent 11 batters to the plate in the ninth, with five scoring in the inning. First-year Zach Kudlacik (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area) led off with a pinch-hit single into left and first-year Gehrig Blanchard (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands Regional) followed with a single before first-year Rick Trapenese (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) reached on a wild pitch after a strikeout, which also allowed Kudlacik to score. After a strikeout, first-year Ethan Snyder (Alexandria, Va./Hayfield) delivered a single to score a run and junior Liam Kaminski (Omaha, Neb./Roncalli) walked to load the bases, setting up a two-RBI double from first-year Nick Reeder (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area). A walk reloaded the bases and sophomore Jake Schilling (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) drove in the last run of the frame with a single up the middle.

The Warriors got on the scoreboard in the seventh inning, as first-year Greg Wirin (Interlaken, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) hit a triple to right center to lead off before first-year Kai Foster (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) drove him in with a single into right field.

Foster finished 2-for-3 with a RBI to lead the Warriors.

The Bullets (9-4 overall) scored three in the first and three in the third before adding one in the fourth and seven in their last two at bats to lead throughout.

David Preziuso led the Bullets, going 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBI and K Miller added two runs.

Bruno Spadafora (2-0) earned the win, pitching three innings, walking two and striking out four. First-year Sammy Pollott (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) took the loss for the Warriors, allowing two hits, three runs and three walks in two innings.
