ITHACA, N.Y. – Sophomores
Troy Scozzafava (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) and
Joey Hoover (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) scored to lead the Lycoming College men's lacrosse team, as it fell in non-conference action to Ithaca College, which is receiving votes in the USILA poll, 21-2, on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 28, at Higgins Stadium.
Â
Scozzafava and Hoover each found the back of the net, as sophomore goalkeeper
Ben Franco (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) and senior
Christian Brown (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township) led the team with three groundballs each.
Â
The Warriors got on the board after the Bombers had three goals as Scozzafava caught a pass from senior
Josh Hall (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) inside the Bombers defensive zone and hit the back of the cage from outside the crease.
Â
Zimmerman found Hoover in the second quarter directly in the front of the net for the Warriors' second goal of the game.
Â
Josh Sramac scored five goals for the Bombers and Jake Erickson, Charlie Niebuhr and Derek Stout all notched three.
Â
Both teams used their full goalkeeping corps as Franco, sophomore
Michael Lavinio (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Saint Joseph Regional), and senior
Sean Sonnie (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) combined for 20 saves. Ryan Laforty earned the win for the Bombers as he, Andrew Minard and Christan Bassi made five saves.
Â
The Warriors return to the field on Saturday, March 4, for a 1 p.m. faceoff against Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa.
