Braden Campbell (Centerville, Utah/Cooper Hills) led the Lycoming College baseball team with a 3-for-5 effort with a run, as it fell to 2022 NCAA Regional participant Swarthmore, 15-4, on Friday afternoon, Feb. 24, at the Ripken Experience Yankee Stadium field.

After Swarthmore (1-0 overall) scored two runs in the top of the first, Lycoming (1-3 overall) cut the lead in half in the second inning, as first-year
Kai Foster (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) reached on a walk, took second on a wild pitch and third on a passed ball before scoring on a groundout.

The Garnet scored one in the third and four in the fourth to take a 7-1 lead. Lycoming closed the gap to five runs in the fifth, as first-year
Nick Reeder (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) walked before Campbell singled. After a fielder's choice, a balk moved runners to second and third and a sacrifice fly by first-year
Eli Hoheb (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) scored Campbell.

The Garnet scored eight more runs in the sixth and seventh innings, but the Warriors rallied with two outs in the ninth as first-year
Greg Wirin (Interlaken, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) walked and stole second before scoring on an infield single from first-year
Gehrig Blanchard (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands). Another single by Campbelll put runners on first and second and first-year
Rick Trapanese (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) drilled a single up the middle to plate Blanchard with Lycoming's fourth run.

Kirk Terada-Herzer led Swarthmore, going 3-for-6 with three runs and two RBI and Austin Burgess posted two hits, four runs and two RBI. Joshua Rankey (1-0) earned the win for the Garnet, tossing three innings, allowing one hit and one run. He walked one and struck out two.

Lycoming first-year
Jake Wilbur (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South) (0-2) allowed seven hits and six earned runs in four innings. He walked two and struck out one.

The Warriors' game on Saturday with McDaniel was cancelled due to freezing temperatures in the forecast, but the team will be in action against Scranton on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 10 a.m., at the Ripken Experience.
