Warriors fall to UMass Dartmouth

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Senior Steven Hamilton (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville Area) led the Lycoming College men's basketball team with 15 points and four assists, but UMass Darmouth had five players finish in double figures in an 81-50 win in the championship game of the Saint Joseph Holiday Tournament at James Calhoun Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 30.
 
First-year Hayden Pardoe (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) earned all-tournament team honors after posting nine points and 12 rebounds to finish the tournament with 21 points and 24 rebounds. Sophomore J.J. Beagle (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) added 10 points and senior Mavin James (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) added four points and seven rebounds.
 
The Warriors (5-6 overall) led 8-5 three and a half minutes into the game before the Corsairs (5-5 overall) hit three straight 3-pointers, starting a 25-6 run that lasted the next nine minutes to take control, leading 44-26 at halftime.
 
The Warriors cut the lead down to 11 in the first 6:30 of the second half, but the Corsairs scored seven straight points in response before adding a late 14-point run to put the game out of reach.
 
Jackson Zancan had 19 points and seven rebounds to lead the Corsairs, Isaac Percy had 15 points and 15 rebounds, Josh Lopes notched 13 points, John Marcille 11 and Nic Boyd 10. Jayquan Leonard added six assists and four steals.
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Wednesday, Jan. 3, when they head to the Catholic University of America for a 4 p.m. Landmark Conference game.
