Lockard, Dufner lead Warriors against Nazareth

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior Meghan Dufner (Washington, N.J./ Warren Hills Regional) and senior Emily Lockard (Benton, Pa./Benton Area) both put up 11 points to lead the Lycoming College women's basketball team as it fell to Nazareth College, 67-52, in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 16 at Lamade Gym.
Dufner also added seven assists for the Warriors (6-3 overall), while Lockard added five rebounds and two steals. First-year Lisa Star (Wanague, N.J./Lakeland Regional) finished with four points, a team-high eight rebounds and three blocks and junior Alicia Goldenziel (Moscow, Pa./North Pocono) added six points and two blocks. Junior Ashley Yoh (Myerstown, Pa./ELCO) added six points, four rebounds and two assists and sophomore Kami Abdo (Pottsville, Pa./Nativity BVM) added five points and three steals.
The Warriors led 13-10 at the end of the first period but Nazareth's 57 percent effort from the field in the second period helped it take a five-point lead into the half.
The Golden Flyers (8-1 overall) put up 40 points to the Warriors' 30 in the second half of the game, as Nazareth continued to shoot above 50 percent in both quarters while Lycoming shot 37 percent.
Molly Benetti put up 26 points and totaled nine rebounds to lead the Golden Flyers. Sarina McDowell added 15 points and Olivia Dobrovosky notched 10 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and four steals.
The Warriors will be back after Christmas when they host the Hoops for Hounds Tournament. The tournament will begin Friday, Dec. 29, at 5 p.m., as the Warriors face Hiram College.
