Warriors set scoring record at Drew

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – First-year Loghan Shelly (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) scored two goals in the second half to help the Lycoming College field hockey team reach 25 goals in a season for the first time in school history, as it fell to Drew University, 6-3, in Landmark Conference action at Ranger Stadium.
The Warriors (4-11 overall, 0-8 Landmark) scored all three goals in the second half to give the team 25 scores on the year, one more than the 1987 team. Sophomore Kelly Preston (Boonton, N.J./Mountain Lakes) has led the way with seven goals while Shelly and sophomore Autumn Shahan (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Charter) both have five.
Lycoming dominated the third period with two goals after Drew (7-9 overall, 3-5 Landmark) had scored four times in the first half. Shelly got the team on the board with a deflection off a shot attempt from sophomore Victoria Burton (Marietta, Pa./ Donegal) and then Preston tipped in another goal off a shot attempt from sophomore Riley Marines (East Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs) to make it 4-2.
The Warriors closed within a goal four minutes into the fourth quarter, as Shelly's second goal came on a pass outside the circle from junior Halie Woodring (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin), but the comeback attempt was thwarted with two late Ranger goals.
Sophomore Isabella Bobé (York Springs, Pa./Bermudian Springs) stopped 15 shots for the second time this year off 24 Drew attempts in the contest. Bobé also reached 100 saves for the second time in her career with her first save of the game.
Tyler Olivio had three goals and an assist to lead the Rangers. Olyvia Jackson had four saves in the win.
The Warriors conclude the season at the University of Scranton for a Landmark Conference game on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m.
