WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – First-year Emma Kelchner (Nescopeck, Pa./Central Columbia) defeated the No. 2 seed at No. 6 singles to advance to Sunday, Sept. 18's MAC Individual Championship semifinals to lead the Lycoming College women's tennis team on the first day of the tournament at Kirby Park on Saturday, Sept. 16.
 
Kelchner downed No. 2 seed Lauren Visalli of Misericordia, 6-0, 6-3, and will face No. 3-seed Anya Sharma of Stevens in the semifinals. She is the only unseeded singles player left in the tournament.
 
Sophomore Rei Saar (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) was nearly a second at No. 3 singles, where she took top-seeded Cassidy Greenman of Wilkes the distance in a 7-5, 4-6, 10-8 defeat. She opened the tournament with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Eastern's Brittany Pancoat.
 
Two other Warrior single players reached the quarterfinals, with junior Hannah Seebold (Milton, Pa./Milton Area) notched a 6-7 (3), 6-2, 10-6 comeback win over Stevenson's Torienne Emery, but dropped her quarterfinal match to No. 3-seed Agatha Malinowski of Stevens. Sophomore Sarah Lanphear (Chittenango, N.Y./Chittenango) added a 6-1, 6-0 win over Arcadia's Emma Chobert at No. 5 before losing to the top-seed in the quarterfinals.
 
Junior Haley Seebold (Milton, Pa./Milton Area) and junior Emily Wolfgang (Montgomery, Pa./Montgomery Area) downed Stevenson's No. 2 duo, 8-6, but lost in the quarterfinals to Wilkes, 8-4. Lanphear and Kelchner posted an 8-3 win over Wilkes in the quarterfinals at No. 3 before falling to Stevens, 8-2.
