WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – First-year
Colby White (Jermyn, Pa./Lakeland) led the Lycoming College women's basketball team with eight points, going 6-for-6 at the free-throw line, at Wilkes University on Wednesday, Feb. 9, as Lycoming succumbed to a second-half rally from Wilkes, 55-48, at the Arnaud C. Marts Center.

Mya Wetzel (Frackville, Pa./North Schuylkill) and first-year
Ashley Yoh (Myerstown, Pa./Eastern Lebanon County) each posted seven points, Wetzel added an additional two steals, three assists, and six rebounds and Yoh contributed four rebounds. Junior
Allison Butler (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove Area) led the Warriors (5-16 overall, 5-8 MAC Freedom) with 10 rebounds.

The Warriors' defense opened the game by holding Wilkes (6-13 overall, 4-8 MAC Freedom) scoreless for the first five minutes, opening the game on an eight-point run thanks to five points from White off a layup and three free-throws. Wilkes caught the Warriors, with Julia Marino tying the game at 11-11 before a jumper from Katelyn Kinczel took the lead before the end of the first period.

Meghan Dufner (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional) hit a pair of free throws the Warriors to take a 17-16 late in the second quarter before a steal and layup from Dufner gave Lycoming a three-point edge. Kinczel hit a 3-point shot with seven seconds left to tie the game at the half, 19-19.

Wetzel and Butler each netted five points in the third quarter, but a run of nine straight Wilkes points helped the Colonels take a six-point lead into the final quarter. The Warriors closed within three points midway through the fourth quarter off a fastbreak layup from sophomore
Jessica Shaver (Luzerne, Pa./Wyoming Valley West), but Wilkes scored the next two buckets in response. Lycoming cut the lead to four off a 3-pointer from junior
Diana Rantz (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) with 1:36 left, but Wilkes scored the game's final three points.

Marino led the Colonels with 11 points, six rebounds, and two assists along with Katelyn Kinczel, who finished with 11 points and four rebounds. Kendra Smith added three assists.

The Warriors return to the court on Saturday, Feb. 12, at 1 p.m., when they face Arcadia University in MAC Freedom action at Lamade Gym.
