Warriors clean up on second day at Diamond City

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – A third-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay by the Lycoming College women's swim team was the highlight of the second day at the Diamond City Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Catholic Youth Center.
 
The men's team remains in sixth place as the women moved into fifth place.
 
First-year Augustus Wood (Herndon, Va./Herndon) started the individual portion of the morning events, finishing 12th with a 5:52.05 in the 500-yard freestyle, the best team time of the season. Wood also finished eighth in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:10.96.
 
In the 50-yard freestyle, senior Katherine Brown (Glenside, Pa./Abington) finished third, swimming a 25.22, junior Cathryn Brought (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) finished fifth at 25.68 and junior Elisa DiNicola (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Township) finished seventh with a 26.60. DiNicola also finished fourth in the 100-yard butterfly, swimming a 1:05.21, and she was followed by junior Courtney Chapman (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) in seventh with a 1:07.66.
 
Brought took fifth in the 200-yard freestyle with a 2:07.78, the team's top time in the event this season.
 
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Chapman, Plotts, DiNicola, and Brought finished fifth in 1:51.10. The 400-yard medley relay team of Wood, Brought, Chapman, and first-year Megan Lonergan (York, Pa./York Suburban) took fourth in 4:31.71. The final relay team of the day, DiNicola, Champman, Lonergan, and Wood combined for a team-best third place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay at 9:01.23.
 
On the men's side, sophomore Noah Vivian (Barto, Pa./Boyertown) took fifth in the 50-yard freestyle, swimming a 22.65, the team's best time this season, and he took fourth in the 100-yard butterfly with a 55.34. In the 400-yard individual medley, senior Matthew Michenfelder (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown) swam a 4:53.90 for eighth. The 100-yard breaststroke saw junior Eliot Keith (New Ringgold, Pa./Blue Mountain) and senior Will Marcinkowski (Philadelphia, Pa./LaSalle College) finish sixth and seventh, with Keith posting a 1:03.28 and Marcinkowski in seventh with a 1:03.39.
 
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Marcinkowski, senior Reilly Gluz (Syracuse, N.Y./Williston Northampton), senior Caleb Reigle (Mount Wolf, Pa./Northeastern) and junior Brennan Warner (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) finished seventh in 1:37.68. In the 400-yard medley relay, Michenfelder, Marcinkowski, Vivian, and Keith swam a 3:53.84 for sixth and Vivian, Gluz, Michenfelder, and Keith combined to post a 7:55.97 to take sixth in the 800-yard freestyle relay.
 
The Warriors return to the pool for the final day of the Diamond City Invitational on Sunday, Nov. 20, at 10 a.m. in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
