Warriors fall to Cougars

DALLAS, Pa. – Junior Owen Zimmerman (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) scored four goals to lead the Lycoming College men's lacrosse team, which fell to Misericordia University, 24-6, in a MAC Freedom contest on Wednesday night, April 7, at Mangelsdorf Field.
 
Zimmerman notched four goals on seven shots and classmate Blake Premo (Massena, N.Y./Massena) scored the other two goals. Freshman Lucas Podvey (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) posted an assist, six groundballs and won 15-of-28 faceoffs.
 
Sophomore Andrew Dede (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) posted three groundballs and caused two turnovers and junior Ian Chapman (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) added four groundballs and one caused turnover.
 
The Cougars scored the game's first six goals before a man-up goal Premo got the Warriors on the board. Misericordia scored all eight goals in the second quarter to take a 14-1 lead.
 
In the third quarter, Premo and Zimmerman each got the Warriors back on the board. In the final quarter, Zimmerman posted a half-trick in a span of 5:33, scoring all three goals unassisted, the last on a man-up effort with 7:00 to go.
 
Robert Wagner led the Cougars with four goals, four assists and five groundballs and Patrick Luzzi posted four goals, three assists, four groundballs and two caused turnovers. Garrett Heidecker won 16-of-25 faceoffs, picked up nine groundballs and scored a goal.
 
Bryan DeGennaro stopped eight shots and allowed three goals in 45 minutes to earn the win for the Cougars. Sophomore Sean Sonnie (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) made nine saves in the first half and sophomore Dan Cantafio (West Seneca, N.Y./West Seneca West) stopped seven in the second half for the Warriors.
 
The Warriors get back on the field on Saturday, April 10, when they host 20th-ranked Stevens at 3 p.m. at UPMC Field.
