Zimmerman, Premo record hat tricks against No. 20 Stevens

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Juniors Blake Premo (Massena, N.Y./Massena) and Owen Zimmerman (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) each recorded hat tricks to lead the Lycoming College men's lacrosse team, but 20th-ranked Stevens notched a 14-goal first half en route to a 23-6 MAC Freedom win at UPMC Field on Saturday afternoon, April 10.
 
Premo scored all three of his goals in the third quarter, two on nice one-timers in front of the crease and one from mid-range. Zimmerman posted a goal in each of the last three quarters of the game and he also assisted one of Premo's goals and picked up three groundballs.
 
Sophomore Zach Anderson (Fogelsville, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) and first-year Max Anderson (Harrisburg, Pa./Homeschooled) each posted an assist.
 
Senior Jake Davis (Honeoye, N.Y./Honeoye) led the Warriors defense with four groundballs and a caused turnover and junior Josh Hall (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) also added four groundballs. Junior Ian Chapman (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) caused three turnovers.
 
Stevens scored the first seven goals of the game before Zimmerman scored with 9:02 left in the second quarter. Premo scored his three goals from 9:25 in the third quarter to 4:18, and Zimmerman added the Warriors last two goals.
 
Michael Burns led the Ducks with six goals and five groundballs and Ryan Gebhardt added three goals and three assists. Daniel Crotty caused three turnovers.
 
In net, sophomore Sean Sonnie (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) stopped seven shots in the first half and sophomore Dan Cantafio (West Seneca, N.Y./West Seneca West) added six saves in the second half. Jake Zeyher stopped three shots in the first half for Stevens and Danny Tierney notched five stops in the second half.
 
The Warriors get back on the field on Wednesday, April 14, when they head to Wilkes University for a _ p.m. MAC Freedom game.
