WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Scoring 11 goals in the second and fourth quarters, the Lycoming College men's lacrosse team provided a balanced offense in a 13-7 MAC Freedom win over King's College on Saturday, April 24, at McCarthy Stadium.

Five Warriors finished with at least two goals, with senior
Dominick Massaro (Centereach, N.Y./Sachem North) notching three goals to lead the team and reach 90 career points. Junior
Michael Scarponi (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) added two goals and two assists, junior
Owen Zimmerman (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) posted two goals and an assist and both sophomores
Zach Anderson (Fogelsburg, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) and
Joe Corozzo (Glen Head, N.Y./North Shore) each added two strikes. Freshman
Jakob Switzer (West Pittston, Pa./Wyoming Area) added two assists.

The Warriors forced King's into 31 turnovers while allowing 15 in the game, as sophomore
Andrew Dede (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) led the way with five caused turnovers and five groundballs and the trio of senior
Jake Davis (Honeoye, N.Y./Honeoye), junior
Ian Chapman (Manchester, Md./Hampstead Valley) and freshman
Christian Spahn (Saltsburg, Pa./The Kiski School) each caused three turnovers a piece.

After a scoreless first quarter, King's finally opened the scoring two minutes into the first quarter. A minute later, junior
Michael Scarponi (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) got on the board with a deep shot, then added another with 10:29 left in the period.

After King's tied the game at two, the Warriors went on a run of four straight goals, started by a deep strike from the wing by senior
Dominick Massaro (Centereach, N.Y./Sachem North) and finished off with a transition goal by longstick junior
Josh Hall (), although King's cut the lead to three with the last goal before the halftime break.

King's closed the lead to a goal early in the third, but the Warriors put together a run of three straight goals, taking a 9-5 lead early in the fourth off a wrap-around one-hander from junior
Owen Zimmerman (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico). King's cut within three, but sophomore
Rory Hines (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) answered with a driving goal with 6:50 left, starting a wave of three more Lycoming goals to give the team an insurmountable lead, with each team scoring once in the final two minutes.

Joe Giannella led the Monarchs with three goals and Ryan Barnes haad two. Charlie Alessi added two assists and Trevor Douenias won 19 faceoffs and grabbed 16 groundballs.

Sophomore
Sean Sonnie (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) posted 11 saves to earn the win for the Warriors. Matt Wall made 17 saves in the loss for the Monarchs.

The Warriors now will get set for a MAC Freedom Championship quarterfinal game on Saturday, May 1, as they will head to top-seeded Stevens. Game time will be announced on lycomingathletics.com when available.
