WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Leading by as many as 20 points midway through the third quarter, the Lycoming College women's basketball team stayed off a late rally by Arcadia University, as senior

Â
Lutz finished with 23 points and a game-high 13 rebounds for her 23
rd career double-double, as she hit 9-of-her-14 shots from the floor and also added three assists for the Warriors (2-1 overall). Sophomore
Emily Zoscin (Weatherly, Pa./Weatherly Area) also finished in double figures for the first time of her career, finishing with 13 points, hitting 5-of-6 from the field.
Â
"It felt really good," Zoscin said. "Everything we faced this season, I knew that the underclassmen had to step up and we were able to do that tonight. I consider myself a defensive threat. It felt really good to execute on offense as well."
Â
A night after the Warriors scored five points in the second quarter, they held Arcadia (5-3 overall) to seven in the period, building a 14-point halftime lead that grew to 20 midway through the third quarter at 44-24 after a jumper in the paint from freshman
Emily Lockard (Benton, Pa./Benton Area).
Â
"What a difference 24-hours makes," Lycoming head coach
Christen Ditzler said. "Our defensive effort was outstanding. We weathered the strom in the third quarter and put points on the board in the first half. The things we talked about, getting the ball in the paint, getting points on the board early, being tough on defense, we did all of it. I was quite pleased."
Â
Arcadia got back into the game with a 16-2 run that finished the third quarter, making it 46-40 heading into the final 10 minutes. A jumper from Julia Makowski even helped Arcadia make it a five-point game with 2:21 left, but Lockard bucket started the Warriors on an 8-4 run that helped the team close out the win.
Â
The Warriors and Knights fought through a back-and-forth first quarter four ties and four lead changes before four straight points from Lutz gave Lycoming a 15-13 lead into the second quarter, where the team started the period with straight points led by six from Zoscin, which put the Warriors ahead 25-13 with 4:19 left in the period. Lutz added her last two buckets of the half to give her 14 points in the last 40 seconds, reinstalling the 14-point lead at 34-20.
Â
