WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior
Dominick Massaro (Centereach, N.Y./Sachem North) led the Lycoming College men's lacrosse team with three goals for his second hat trick of the year and two others added multiple-goal efforts, but an eight-goal first quarter helped lift DeSales University post a 19-9 MAC Freedom at UPMC Field on Wednesday, March 24.

Massaro also notched two groundballs, while junior
Owen Zimmerman (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) notched two goals and a caused turnover and junior
Michael Scarponi (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) also added two goals and three groundballs. Freshman
Christian Spahn (Saltsburg, Pa./The Kiski School) posted a goal, an assist, three groundballs and a caused turnover with the longstick.

The Warrior defense forced 28 turnovers, with junior
Ian Chapman (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) and junior
Josh Hall (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) each causing four. Sophomore
Andrew Dede (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) collected five groundballs to lead the team, which picked up 40.

DeSales (4-0 overall, 3-0 MAC Commonwealth) scored three goals in the game's first six minutes before Massaro got the Warriors (0-3 overall, 0-2 MAC Commonwealth) on the board with 7:59 left in the quarter and a goal from Spahn with the longstick off a dish from junior
Markus Sidwell (Glen Burnie, Md./Glen Burnie) kept it a three-goal margin. The Bulldogs scored five in a row to end the quarter, though.

The Warriors started the second quarter with goals from Massaro and Scarponi, but DeSales scored six more goals before another Warrior flurry of goals from Massaro and Scarponi made it 14-6 heading into the fourth quarter. DeSales scored the first five goals before Lycoming scored the last three, with the last coming from sophomore
Zach Anderson (Fogelsville, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) with 17 seconds left.

Zach Bowen led the Bulldogs with five goals and two assists and Matt Motto and Sean Wiser each collected three goals a piece. Kai Taylor posted two goals and three assists. Colin Corrado won 23-of-28 faceoffs and collected nine groundballs.

Sophomore
Sean Sonnie (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) posted nine saves and allowed 12 goals in the first half and sophomore
Dan Cantafio (West Seneca, N.Y./West Seneca West) added seven stops and allowed seven goals in the second half. Quinton Lyons notched six saves in the win.

The Warriors get back in action on Saturday, March 27, when Delaware Valley comes to UPMC Field for a 1 p.m. MAC Freedom game.
