Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Five Warriors reach double digits in 86-51 win over FDU-Florham

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior Darius Dangerfield (Abingdon, Md./Harford Tech) led a well-balanced scoring attack with 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting to go along with four assists to fuel the Lycoming College men's basketball team to an 86-51 win over FDU-Florham on Friday night, Feb. 12, at Lamade Gym, completing a sweep in the MAC Freedom home-and-home series.

Five Warriors scored in double figures, as Lycoming (2-0) started the game with 16 unanswered points, holding FDU-Florham (0-2) scoreless for the first 6:10. The Warriors were fueled by two 3-pointers from sophomore Mo Terry (Severn, Md./Severn School) over that span, as well as five from fellow sophomore Dyson Harward (Danville, Pa./Danville Area).

Terry finished with 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting, including a 3-for-4 performance from long range. Harward contributed eight points, in addition to his four rebounds, two assists and pair of steals.
The Warriors tallied 40 bench points, thanks in large part to freshmen Steven Hamilton (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville Area) and Brendon Blackson (Laurel, Md./Laurel), as well as junior D'Andre Edmond (Pflugerville, Texas/Pflugerville), who posted 10 points apiece.

"The full 40 minutes of the game was about as good as it gets," Lycoming head coach Mike McGarvey said. "If you look at the stat sheet, 11 guys scored, 17 guys played – there were five guys in double figures. Our plus-minus was off the charts. Part of that was because of the differential at the end of the game, but when you have so many guys that are sharing the ball and playing connected through the first two games of the season, it's impressive and tells you what our identity can be."

After Hamilton drilled two free throws to push his squad's lead to 15 at 27-12 with 7:41 remaining in the first half, the Warriors never led by less than that margin for the rest of the game, closing the half on a 22-10 run.

In the first half, the Warriors hit 46 percent from the field and held the Devils to 26 percent, including 18 percent from beyond the arc. Lycoming also forced seven turnovers before the break, leading to 13 points on the other end.

Lycoming picked up right where it left off in the second half, extending its lead to as many as 37 at 84-47 after sophomore Luke Finkbeiner (Warrenton, Va./Wakefield School) hit a jumper in the paint in the final two minutes. It was the penultimate of 17 total shots sunk in the paint for the Warriors.

Finkbeiner finished with a career-high three rebounds. Edmond led Lycoming in that category with a game-high 10 boards, also a career-best for him, helping him achieve his first collegiate double-double. DeAundre Manuel (Brooklyn, N.Y./KIPP NYC College Prep) added eight points, six rebounds and a game-high two blocks for the Warriors, who finished 44 percent (31-of-70) from the floor compared to FDU-Florham's 27 percent (15-of-55).

Matthew Johnson paced the Devils with 14 points and six rebounds. Michael Dabas scored 12 points.

The Warriors will be back in action when they travel to Delaware Valley for the first game of a MAC Freedom home-and-home series on Thursday, Feb. 18, at 7 p.m.
